About Lake Hills Music School
Lake Hills Music School is the result of Cece Yentzen's lifetime passion for music. Cece founded the school in 2019 to help music students of all ages pursue their own passion for music. The school offers personalized instruction in piano, guitar, baritone ukulele, concert ukulele, music theory, reading, improvisation and songwriting. Lessons are available in person or online.
Cece grew up in a musical home, and started her own musical journey at age 5 when she began both piano and music theory lessons and public performance with a group called Generation Span. She continued to play piano and sang in choirs throughout elementary and high school. One of her many performances during this period included singing the national anthem at a Los Angeles Angels game with the group Sound Foundation.
Cece attended University of Louisiana at Monroe, LA with multiple music scholarships for participation in the marching band Sound of Today, Concert Chorale, and Percussion Ensemble. While at college, Cece competed in the Percussive Art Society International Convention (PASIC) with her brother Kelly and the percussion ensemble, where they performed an adaptation of Candide.
Cece also performed in Monroe Symphony Orchestra’s percussion section for their performance of Carmina Burana.
Halfway through her college education, Cece decided to side step her musical career in order to become an occupational therapist (OT). Cece worked as an OT for 25 years, treating a variety of clients: from children with learning disabilities to adults with neurological or orthopedic impairments. Through this work, Cece helped a variety of professional musicians return to their musical careers after acute injury.
Throughout her OT career Cece continued her musical pursuits, composing her own songs, and playing in a variety of bands, filling any spots that were needed: drums, guitar, ukulele, bass and/or vocals; She also continued her musical education along the way, taking courses under Pat Pattison, a professor at Berklee College of Music, and even the renowned Australian guitarist, songwriter and singer Tommy Emmanuel. Cece also worked as a session musician, providing organ, piano, guitar and backing vocals.
After 25 years in the medical field, Cece retired her OT license in order to be a full- time homeschooling mom, musician, writer and music teacher. She can also be found performing at various venues throughout Austin and Lakeway as a singer-songwriter.
